August’s Guest Writer # 4

I checked my inbox and there were no entries for August 15th’s “Guest Writer,” so I thought to myself, “There is no rule that says I can’t be a guest writer on my own site,” so here goes!) 🙂 (Just a short one as it is last minute!) 🙂

I am sharing one of my favorite writings form my favorite book in all the world, (The Bible.)  I have written an excerpt from the 13th chapter  of 1st Corinthians as it speaks  about what LOVE really is…Every time I read these beautiful words, I see them in a new light, am greatly inspired and learn something incredible. I hope it is a blessing to you as well!

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE.”LOVE119

AMAZING   AUTOBIOGRAPHIES.

storyteller4

I am an avid reader and in my recent years,  have discovered a great appreciation for books that are written about people who have shared their life story.   This sparked an interest in writing my own biography and in my endeavors, I came across a exemplary book that I want to share. It is a step by step book that enables one to write their story in a very easy and uncomplicated manner.  Actually, I find this book inspiring as it helps me to recall memories and timelines within my life that I had forgotten. If there are any “writers” out there, who have a desire to write their ” life story,” I highly recommend this book. Best of luck to you.

MY MOM, “THE MASTER STORY TELLER,” BORN IN THE EARLY 1900’S

storyteller

Have you ever known anyone (off stage,) who could weave a tale so intriguing, so suspenseful, so dog-gone interesting that you could sit for hours spellbound, lost in another world, unable to move except for that demanding trip to ‘you know where’ and, of course, for the usual expedition for a Coke, Snickers bar or Black-cow?

Well, not to brag a whole lot, but my mom was a champion story teller.  Of course, Mrs. Ellarbe, our home town’s Librarian, said that Mama had read every book in our famous Carnegie Library, (except the technical books,) so she had a veritable wealth of information, ideas, plots and great characters to draw from.  Her imaginative resources were not just from the classics, mind you, but from detective stories, horror stories, love stories, history and well, you name it. (excluding our modern day literature, which should be trashed!)

I’ve known the times nobody  had any fingernails left, and the times our back downstairs bedroom, (which was behind Mama’s bedroom and which had two double beds) was unbelievably over-crowded, to say the least.  No one dared to go home, so we all slept however we could to ensure our protection from such villains as Dr. Fu Man Chu!  Every  child on our end of the marshland knew of Mama’s gift, so, as you can surmise, she was very popular. Even older people loved her.

She had so much to talk about and such an interesting way of talking. Oh, how I loved her laugh! Her sense of humor and her appreciation of fun and her genuine delight in kids and people made her a very special lady. My friends used to come to see her even when I wasn’t at home. I wish so much that she had followed through with her desire to write. You would have loved her. Everybody else did…my friends called her by her first name.

A TREASURE BEYOND WORDS!

storyteller1

A Treasure beyond words.

One of the most difficult times of my life was leaving the nest and venturing  out on my own to discover my independence. After I moved away, I received this poem from my mother. It made me cry. I keep it with me every day. I did not realize it was just as hard for her to let go as it was for me. This is the poem she wrote to me ;

How do you describe a rainbow in a rain drenched sky, Or a dancing sunbeam on the wings of a butterfly?

How do you capture a moonbeam, tip toeing through the night, Or a flirtatious , twinkling star in its halo of twinkling light?

How can you touch a summer breeze, as it gently caresses you, Or a billowing snowy cloud as it rides the heavens blue?

How can you fathom the ocean, mysterious, ever changing , never still Or the beauty of a sunrise, bursting in splendor upon a hill?

How can I tell you of Annie; child, woman, angel, mischievous elf, Sparkling as a raindrop caught by the sun, quiet, reflective, searching in depths of herself?

How can I tell her of my love, which surrounds her everyday, Holds her close in my heart, yet frees her on her wary?

I love you Annie, Mom.

Would You like to be a guest writer on Living Winsomely?

susan happy

HELLO TO ALL LIVING WINSOMELY READERS!

I have had numerous readers write in and ask if I was ‘open’ to a guest writer. HERE IS YOUR CHANCE. 🙂

If you would like to write something that falls under the category of Living Winsomely, I will be more than happy to post your blog. (It can be something your passionate about, your artistic skills,  profession, life’s lessons learned, decorating ideas, a life changing story,  a poem,or things that bring hope, joy, education, laughter, etc.)

I ask that it be clean, translated to English as I am unable to post written material on the site that I can’t understand in protection of the readers. Make sure your writing is respectful to all races, religions and genders.

LWPlease send your writing, (with photos if you like,) to my contact page, (at the bottom of the Living Winsomely cover page.) *** It is important that you do not submit your blog entry in the reply section under  the “contact us” page. Make sure you actually click on thecontact us” page and enter your writing so that it comes directly to me at my e-mail.

Please remember to give your blog a title.

Your e-mail address is absolutely confidential and will not be displayed . Its up to you if you want to put your name with your writing, please just note that to me in your submission.

If you are sharing about your profession and how it brings winsomeness to others, please remember, I can’t post your website with your blog unless it is translated to English.

I will design a new category on the site called “Guest writers.”

If or when, Living Winsomely is no longer an active blog site, (I hate to even think about that,)  🙂 your writing submissions will not be returned to you, meaning, just as your replies and comments on the blogs are part of the site, so is the blog you submit as a guest writer.

I will begin taking the submissions as of Saturday, June 21st, the first day of Summer.  The first guest writer’s blog will go up on July 1st and I will continue putting them up every week, or every two weeks, depending on how many writings are submitted. (This is all new for me and I am hoping to hear from many of you who have a desire to share.)

I will keep this open invitation up through summer for new readers to the site as well as those of you who have been reading since Living Winsomely began , February of 2013. If the response is positive, then I can keep the invitation up year round.

I have been exceedingly blessed by all of you and your wonderful support, within the United States as well as all over the world, as the site has grown in leaps and bounds in the last 17 months.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me through my contact page.

I am excited to hear from you, the readers, and am looking forward to reading what your passionate about and what is on your heart to share.

*** If you would like me to notify you before your blog is posted, please specify that on your entry. Thank you!

Lastly, I know that I write long blogs, 🙂 but please know your blog can be as small or large as you’d like. (OK, not longer than mine.) 🙂  I also encourage parents of children who want to share something to invite their kids to write in. (I know several of you have shared with me that some of the blogs on Living Winsomely have been an aid to your child’s homework, which I think is great!)  🙂

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend, Susan

***** AS OF AUGUST 25th, 2014, There will no longer be any more guest writing submissions. Thank you, due to changes being made to the site. Thank you for a great summer!
